Background Links Support

Setup instructions

1. Install Background Links on your iPhone.
2. Open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → Background Links and enable Allow Extension.
3. Visit a website in Safari. Open the Extensions menu near Safari's address bar and select Background Links.
4. When Safari requests permission, choose Always Allow on This Website for websites where you want the extension enabled.
5. Tap a link normally. It should open in a new background tab while your current page remains visible.

You can close the Background Links app after setup. It does not need to remain open for the Safari extension to work.

Controls

Open Background Links from Safari's Extensions menu to turn the feature on or off globally or for the current website.

Troubleshooting

If links aren't opening in background tabs, confirm that the extension is enabled, that Safari has granted permission for the website, and that Background Links is switched on.

Some websites handle links differently. If a particular website doesn't work, please report it.
